The Rutherglen Convent

Converted from a boarding house, school, and convent into a carefully preserved edifice, the Rutherglen Convent provides distinctive group lodging. Constructed approximately in 1927, this expansive and historically significant property is situated in the centre of the Rutherglen wine-making region. You’ll have plenty of options because there are cafés, bakeries, wine bars, and pubs all within walking distance of the property, which is only 550 metres from Main Street.

The structure is divided over two spacious floors and has gothic-inspired design and old-world elegance. The ground floor has a formal entry, kitchen, laundry, and eight main rooms with high, elaborate ceilings, lead-light windows, and fireplaces that aren’t in use. Eleven bedrooms, four private bathrooms, an antique boarding house bathroom, and access to the raised terraces with 360-degree views of the surroundings are all located on the top floor, which is reached by two timber stairs.
